Glasgow boy, 15, appears in court charged with culpable homicide after death of man, 70

A 15-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with culpable homicide following the death of a pensioner in Glasgow.

Police were called to the Victoria Road area in the city's south side at around 11.55pm on Friday following reports of a serious assault.

A 70-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 15-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged at the weekend and appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday.

The Glasgow teenager, who cannot be identified due to legal reasons, made no plea to the charge of culpable homicide.

He was remanded in custody and is due back in the dock within the next eight days.

Police Scotland earlier said the pensioner's family had been informed of the death and requested privacy.
