A firearm has been discharged during an attempted robbery at a pub.
Two men wearing balaclavas and another man whose face was covered by a scarf entered the Twisted Thistle pub in Old Kilpatrick, West Dunbartonshire, at around 10.15pm on Sunday.
They made off in a vehicle along Dumbarton Road towards Dumbarton after the robbery attempt.
None of the pubs occupants - three female members of staff and a male customer - were injured and nothing was stolen.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house inquiries following the incident.
Detective Inspector Ogilvie Ross has appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
He said: "The Twisted Thistle is a family pub and this is an incredibly rare incident in this area.
"However, we have increased high-visibility uniform patrols to help reassure the public.
"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time the incident occurred or anyone who has information about the identity of those involved to get in touch with me as a matter of urgency."
