The body of a man was discovered after police responded to a report of a car on fire in Renfrew.
Officers were called to Row Avenue, near Braehead Shopping Centre, at 10.30pm on Monday.
The man's body was found in the vehicle and has yet to be identified.
His death is currently being treated as unexplained.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 10.30pm on Monday 4 March police were called to a report of a car on fire in Row Avenue, Renfrew.
"Emergency services attended and the body of a man was discovered within the vehicle.
"Formal identification is still to take place and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death, which officers are treating as unexplained at this time.
"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
