Up to 50 firefighters have tackled a large blaze in the middle of Kettering town centre.
Emergency services were called at around 1230pm to Regent Street in Kettering to reports of a large fire at a bedding and mattress outlet.
Crews from across Northamptonshire attended.
Local road closures were put in by police and a number of nearby streets were evacuated.
St Andrews Church Hall was opened for residents as a respite scentre.
At 720pm, Northants Fire and Rescue said residents of Havelock Street could now return after the previous closure, but vehicles would still be prevented from going into the street.
