Cannabis Factory Uncovered
5 February 2019, 11:08
More than 250 cannabis plants have been seized by Kent Police after the discovery of a cannabis factory in a warehouse in Dover.
Officers also found an air rifle and bayonet, along with drug growing equipment at the site in Holmestone Road, off Poulton Close, on Friday 1 February 2019.
Police say there were also signs that electricity had been abstracted illegally at the premises.
Crime scene investigators carried out forensic examinations before the factory was dismantled by officers.
A 30-year-old Dover man has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis and abstracting electricity. He has been released while enquiries continue.
Investigating officer PC Kerry Akast said: "This discovery will have had a significant impact on the supply of illegal drugs in Dover.
"We would like to hear from anyone who has seen suspicious activity in the Holmestone Road area of the town. We would also like to hear from anyone suspecting that a cannabis factory may be operating in their neighbourhood.’
Signs of a cannabis factory can include a pungent smell emanating from the building, windows being permanently covered from the inside and visits to the address not matching normal residents’ patterns, that is people calling daily or weekly but only for short periods of time.
