Man attacked near Airdrie supermarket

A 46-year-old man's been hurt after being attacked in Airdrie at the weekend.

Around 3.35 pm on Sunday 23 June 2019 he was making his way to Morrisons supermarket when he was approached by two men in the lane near to Adam Avenue and seriously assaulted.

Emergency services were called and the 46 year-old man was treated for facial injuries in hospital before being released.

The first suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, white, around 5ft 10 of heavy build with short black hair. He was wearing a black jumper, black jogging bottoms and black Adidas trainers.

The second suspect is described as being in his mid-20s, white, around 5ft of slim build and was wearing a blue tracksuit top, black Adidas joggings bottoms with white Adidas stripes on the side.

Detective Constable Paul James, Coatbridge CID, said:

"This was a violent attack on a vulnerable man and we are currently doing everything we can to trace those responsible.

"Officers are currently checking CCTV in the area, however we would ask anyone who may have been in the vicinity of the incident to get in touch with us - you may have information that can help.
