Two armed robbers wearing sunglasses have stolen a safe after bursting into the house of a couple at home with their young child.
The two men entered the property after the woman answered the door of her home in Dee Crescent, Paisley at around 11.50am on Friday.
The pair, who were armed with bladed weapons, made their way into the house where the woman's 31-year-old male partner challenged them.
They managed to get into one of the rooms where they stole a small safe containing personal items.
The robbers made off on foot towards Fulbar Road chased by the 31-year-old man, who managed to recover one of the weapons.
Police are appealing for information about the incident in the Renfrewshire town.
Detective Constable John Sharkey said: "Although thankfully not injured, this was very distressing for both the man and woman involved especially as their young child was also in the house at the time.
"The man gave chase after the suspects along Dee Crescent and managed to recover one of the weapons used, but the men got away.
"At this time we do not know why their house was targeted.
"We have had officers in the area speaking to neighbours many of whom came out to assist or who had heard a disturbance, however, we would still like to hear from anyone who may have seen the two suspects - who will have looked completely out of place there - before or after the robbery, or who may have any information that will assist officers with their enquiries."
The suspects are described as white, aged between 30 and 40 and wearing almost identical clothing: black work wear type jackets, dark trousers, dark sunglasses, gloves and black baseball caps.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Paisley CID via 101 quoting reference number 1313 of the 3 May 2019 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.
