Man held as MK fire causes Morrisons evacuation

A man from Milton Keynes has been arrested after three suspicious fires today.

Emergency services were called to Costa Coffee in Westcroft followed by Morrisons nearby this lunchtime to reports of small fires, both in toilets.

The fires are being linked to a house fire in Harlow Crescent.

Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue sent three crews from Broughton, Great Holm and Bletchley to the incidents.

Morrisons was temporarily evacuated and the fire brigade left by around 1pm.

Thames Valley Police say a local man, aged 40, has beeen arrested on suspicion of arson, and remains in custody this afternoon.

No-one was seriously injured but two people, including a member of staff at the supermarket were treated by South Central Ambulance paramedics for the effects of breathing in smoke.
