A former off-duty volunteer police officer in Northamptonshire has been found to have acted with gross misconduct.
A former off-duty volunteer police officer in Northamptonshire has been found to have acted with gross misconduct.
A special case disciplinary hearing has been chaired by the force's Chief Constable to hear the case of ex-Special Constable Heath-Gardiner.
It was alleged the former Special had:
- Taken photographs of a colleague’s bottom without their knowledge or consent whilst they were asleep and partially clothed
- View extreme pornographic images
The former officer was present at the hearing and admitted the allegations.
The Chief Constable said the evidence available amounted to Gross Misconduct and that if Mr Heath-Gardiner was still a serving Special Constable, he would have been Dismissed without notice.
The former officer has a right of appeal against the outcome imposed.
These incidents occurred whilst Mr Heath-Gardiner was off duty, as was the colleague of whom he took photographs.
The Chief Constable said standards of professional behaviour apply to police officers and special constables both on and off-duty and Northants Police takes incidents of this nature seriously, whenever and wherever they may occur.
