Police are appealing urgently for information after a blood trail was found in the Old Swan area on Wednesday evening.
At 5.45pm, officers were called to Montague Road to a report of blood being found. The trail was found to run approximately 250 yards from Montague Road, across Edge Lane and ending on Rathbone Road in Wavertree. Extensive CCTV, hospital and area searches are ongoing and we are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Chief Inspector Paul Sutcliffe: "This is clearly a concerning find and we want to ensure anyone who may have been injured gets immediate medical treatment. The blood stops near to a bus stop on Rathbone Road, so it is possible someone has got on a bus here and gone elsewhere.
"If you saw anyone in distress in the area or further afield, were passing by or captured anything on your vehicle dashcam or home CCTV, let us know. We will act urgently on any information that comes in."
Anyone with information should call 999 if they come across anyone injured, or provide information on @MerPolCC with reference 733 or 101.
