An armed robber who raided two shops in two hours is being hunted by police after stealing hundreds of pounds at gunpoint.
Detectives say the same man carried out an armed robbery at the Scotmid shop in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, on Monday night and then went on to hold up a Ladbrokes bookmakers three miles away in Hardgate, West Dunbartonshire.
Staff at both shops were left "badly shaken" after being threatened by the gun-wielding man .
No shots were fired and no-one was injured.
The first armed robbery happened at approximately 7.15pm at the Ledi Drive Scotmid, followed by the raid at the bookies in Glasgow Road at approximately 9.15pm.
Police say the culprit stole three-figure sums of cash in both robberies and detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the incidents.
CCTV is being examined from both premises while officers are gathering other footage across the area, according to Detective Sergeant Scott McNulty.
He said: "No-one was injured in these incidents but staff members have been left badly shaken by the incidents.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in Ledi Road and Glasgow Road around the time the robberies occurred to contact us.
"It's possible you saw the suspect hanging around outside prior to the incidents or did you see him run off.
"If anyone has any knowledge regarding the suspect or any information which could assist in our enquiries, please contact us."
The suspect, who is described as a white, 6ft man, of slim build and with shaved dark hair and a local accent, was wearing a dark-navy Parka jacket with a fur hood, dark jeans and dark gloves.
