Man Arrested Over Brighton Flat Fire

A man's been arrested after a fire at flats in Brighton.

Crews were called to the fifth floor of Wiltshire House in Lavender Street at around 6.45AM on Sunday.

One resident had to be rescued from his balcony after the fire broke out in a communal area.

Police say no other flats were affected, and that there was no need for the nbuilding to be evacuated.

The 27-year-old suspect was held on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

He's been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews from Preston Circus, Hove, Lewes and Newhaven fire stations were in attendance.

Eight firefighters wearing Breathing apparatus tackled the flames and rescued the resident.
