Woman's death after suffering severe burns treated as suspicious

A woman has died after she was found seriously injured near a burning car.

The 47-year-old was discovered with significant burns to her body and a head injury near Drumcross Farm in Bathgate, West Lothian, at around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

She was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where she died on Thursday.

Police are treating her death as suspicious.

A 47-year-old man was also found with burns and he is being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "The woman's death is being treated as suspicious and inquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are continuing."
