Multi-millionaire Ian Watson payed Take That £500,000 to play at his wife Claire's 50th birthday party this weekend.

The party - which was hosted at the couples home in their back garden - was to celebrate her special birthday and Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald performed a 50-minute-set.

The host kept the half-a-million-pound secret on the down low from his guests who were probably shocked to see the famous band appearing at the intimate event.

The 160 guests were in the dark about the special guests and apparently audible gasps were heard when some curtains were pulled back to reveal the band singing 'Shine'.

Speaking to The Mirror Mr Watson said: "They could've played two or three songs and we'd have been happy, but they did a 50-minute set with a full light show."

The birthday girl also revealed that they were very friendly. She said: "I got to spend some time with them before they went on stage. They were every bit as pleasant as they appear when they're on TV."

"The band told us it's the smallest gig they've done."

Claire is no doubt the envy of Take That fans everywhere!
