Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has given birth to her second child, naming her after one of the most iconic soap characters of all time.
Corrie's Jennie McAlpine has become a mother for the second time after welcoming a baby girl.
Jennie, 34, who is married to Chris Farr, announced the news on her Twitter account and revealed they'd chosen to name their newborn Hilda.
Our newest addition arrived yesterday. Mummy and Daddy very happy. Big brother very proud of his little sister Hilda. We’re all in love ❤️— Jennie McAlpine (@jenniemcalpine) October 30, 2018
The actress, who fell pregnant shortly after her stint on I'm A Celeb, wrote: "Our newest addition arrived yesterday. Mummy and Daddy very happy. Big brother very proud of his little sister Hilda. We’re all in love."
The choice of unusual name may have come from one of the most iconic Corrie characters in the show's history - Hilda Ogden (played by Jean Alexander).
Jennie, who is best known for playing Fiz in Coronation Street, first appeared on the soap in 1997, and already has a three-year-old named Albert with her husband.
She recently revealed that producers used a car to cover her blossoming bump on set before she left the cobbles in September earlier this year.
She revealed: '"We started [covering the bump] with a mug, and then a handbag.
"I kid you not, last week they hid it with a Ford Fiesta.
"They said, 'Can we just move that car back a bit?' I said, 'Is this for my bump?' They said, 'Yeah, we can see it a bit, but it's going to help.'"
